W. Benjamin Tobey

Ben Tobey is an accomplished civil litigation attorney who has worked on a wide array of cases involving complex legal issues. Ben is a problem solver who enjoys learning about his clients’ businesses and helping them resolve disputes and avoid them in the future. He previously practiced with a large plaintiff-oriented class action and toxic torts firm and a well-known Charlotte, North Carolina civil litigation firm prior to joining Moretz Law Group. Currently, Ben’s practice is concentrated in various types of civil litigation including business litigation, construction litigation, zoning disputes, code enforcement issues, community association and HOA disputes, and corporate and administrative law matters.

As the owner of a historic home, Ben has also developed legal interests in preservation law both at the organizational and municipal levels. This knowledge has helped him both personally and professionally while providing guidance to various non-profit associations and organizations on their respective guidelines.

Ben graduated from Pfeiffer University magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in History, where he was a four-year starter and senior captain of the men’s golf team. Following his time at Pfeiffer he attended North Carolina Central University School of Law and served as both a staff and senior editor of the Bio-Pharmaceutical Law Review. During law school he also worked as a Research Assistant for the North Carolina General Assembly where he analyzed policies and bills for senators and senate committees.

Ben grew up in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Denver, North Carolina. He now resides in downtown Salisbury where he and his wife are active in historic preservation and downtown revitalization. In his free time, Ben enjoys working on his historic home, golf, grilling out, and enjoying the outdoors.
